OUTL 430 - Adventure Leadership

This hands-on leadership practicum is the capstone course for Outdoor Leadership majors and provides them, as well as other upper division professionals seeking a hands-on application to their leadership development, an opportunity to create, design, and implement a unique outdoor expedition.  This experience provides a framework for them to be mentored by the professor and other instructors as they put into practice things like environmental ethics and issues, individual and group dynamics, safety and liability considerations, and working with logistics of group travel.  Physical and emotional requirements appropriate to wilderness field experiences, curriculum development, and the administration of adventure activities are also addressed.  An extended field trip of one week or more is required for this class. Lab Fee: 19 ($800).
Prerequisite(s): Minimum 12 OUTL credit; OUTL 136 , OUTL 318 .
