OUTL 136 - Survey of Outdoor Leadership

This is the first required course of the outdoor leadership major and minor. However, this course is open to all outdoor enthusiasts and provides an introduction to a wide variety of adventure activities including, but not limited to, challenge course, canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, caving, backpacking, kayaking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Safety, group dynamics, teamwork, problem solving, leadership skills, back country ethics, nature observation and spiritual insights are emphasized throughout the course. The core experience for this class is a 24-day combination of multi-day expeditions and on campus instruction. Lab Fee: 18 ($700).
