COUN 521 - Psychopathology

This course emphasizes diagnostic criteria for the disorders included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Revised Text (DSM-IV-TR). Mental disorders are defined and categorized in terms of their manifestations and symptoms. Cultural variations in symptoms and gender and age-related features of the disorders are also considered, as well as empirically-based treatments currently available for each condition.
Prerequisite(s): COUN 520  and COUN 556  or having obtained regular admission to the PMHNP program or MSW Mental Health Practice in Social Work.
